The profits of the top 30 companies in Mexico shot up 126.2% between July and September of this year, to MXN 90.527 billion, compared to the MXN 40.17 billion reported in the same period in 2020. The list of companies reporting surprising results includes Alpha. Alsea. ASUR. Cuervo, Elektra, Femsa. Gruma, Orbia and Vesta. For Banorte, the data presented by Mexican companies in previous days show that the economic recovery is still underway, albeit at a slower pace. “Third quarter figures confirmed a solid growth trend, although at a slower pace, with more normalized comparison bases.”

The Mexican company Gruma that produces Maseca received the Éntrale 2021 award for its inclusion of people with disabilities in the workplace. Gruma was recognized by the Éntrale Alliance, an initiative promoted by the Mexican Business Council to promote the labor inclusion of people with disabilities in Mexico. The civil association Alianza Éntrale was created to connect people with disabilities with the business sector and facilitate their hiring, retention, and development in the labor market. Gruma received an award from the Éntrale Alliance in recognition of its commitment to its employees, as it consistently works on projects to promote the inclusion of people with disabilities.

Corn and flour tortilla producer Gruma reported a 0.53% yield in dividends. The issuer is the last one to pay out dividends on two different dates, January 7 and April 8, 2022. Some companies listed on the BMV have already paid dividends to investors, such as Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP), Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste (ASUR), Fomento Económico Mexicano (Femsa) and Coca-Cola Femsa.

According to the financial group’s Latam Radar Screen model, Mexican company Gruma shares listed on the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) are some of Citibanamex analysts’ favorites, consistent with the outstanding sales and profits the company reported not only during 2020, with the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak when a large number of companies faced a drop in sales and the price of their shares but also because of its strong performance during 2021 and the positive forecasts about the issuer in the coming months. In this regard, it should be noted that Gruma reported MXN 1.478 billion in profits at the end of Q321, driven by its growth in sales, especially in the United States and Europe. The company, reporting close to 70% of its revenues in U.S. dollars, also benefits from the exchange rate.

During the current federal administration, the Pemex brand lost 38.4% of its value in the international energy market and was dropped from the list of the 10 Biggest Oil Companies Worldwide. According to the Mexico 50 2021 Report published by Brand Finance, the world’s leading independent brand valuation consulting firm specializing in intangible assets, Peñafiel, had a spectacular increase of 42.1%, as it was bumped up 14 positions in the ranking to 31st place. Sigma Alimentos also increased its value considerably (41.4%), ranked 23 in the list, 11 places higher than its ranking in 2020. This year, the new entries on the list are Maseca and Banco Compartamos, ranked 48 and 50, respectively.
