In 1976, we began Gruma's diversification by acquiring several rice plants that were the source for Luisiana, the leading top quality brand in Costa Rica.  Luisiana was foundedin 1978 and entered the nationalmarket as the first brand of premium rice on the market with the launching of its presentation of 95% whole grain rice. 

This brand acquired a position and evolved rapidly in the market through constant innovation in its presentations and the development  communications addressed to consumers who appreciate the features of quality rice: cleanliness, whiteness and looseness. 

There are several presentations and qualities for the local market, such as 80%, 90%, 95% and 98% whole grain rice, brown rice and precooked rice.
